Psalm 111 and my reflection
I have been instructed in the past
about not calling anyone rabbi or father, or even reverend when I was growing
up. In Jesus own words, He said “do not be called 'Rabbi'; for One is your Teacher, the
Christ, and you are all brethren” and “Do
not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in
heaven.” So what do we do as Christian,
as the only way we can show we love Chris is to obey His commands, is to call one religious group “rabbi” and another
religious group “father.”
While going through the book of Psalms,
I notice in chapter 11, verse 9 that “he hath commanded his covenant forever:
holy and reverend is his name.” As
we were told, “The holy God is the reverend God. That title should never be
applied to a man. No preacher should be called “Reverend.” This is a title for
God alone.” What do we find, preachers
and church leaders want to be called “reverend.” Contrary to the commands of the Scriptures.
No wonder in the future, Jesus tells us
in His own words in John 16, “, the time is coming that whoever
kills you will think that he offers God service.” or
my words, Christians will be killing again as of old time other Christians who
do not believe as they do and they will be telling others they are doing God’s
work.
We must always keep our eyes on the
prize, goal that our Lord and Creator has set before us.
Blessings
Steve
Psalms
111:9-10 KJV He sent redemption unto his
people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is
his name. (10) The fear of the LORD is the beginning
of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments:
his praise endureth for ever.
Matthew 23:6-10 NKJV They love the best
places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, (7) greetings in the
marketplaces, and to be called by men, 'Rabbi, Rabbi.' (8) But you, do not be
called 'Rabbi'; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren. (9) Do not call anyone on
earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. (10) And do not be called
teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ.
John 16:2-3 NKJV They will put you out
of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think
that he offers God service. (3) And these things they will do to you because they have not
known the Father nor Me.
