I found this section of Acts 28 about the objective of
Paul’s teaching somewhat different from before.
We know that the words, they, are the leaders of the Jews that Paul
called them to meet with them and they came to Paul according to vs 17. I found it interesting that Paul said in vs.
20, why he wanted to speak with the Jewish leadership was because “it
is for the hope of Israel that I'm wearing this chain.” Than after setting up an appointed time and
date, Paul then (1) declared to them the kingdom of God and (2) tried to
convince them about Jesus from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets which is
the Gospel from morning until evening.
So Paul preached about the Kingdom of God that is coming for Israel and
the Gospel of Jesus life (birth, death and resurrection). I would have loved to be there to hear in
person this sermon. Blessing
Stephen
(Acts 28:23 NIV)
They arranged
to meet Paul on a certain day, and came in even larger numbers to
the place where he was staying. From morning till evening he explained and
declared to them the kingdom of God and tried to convince them about Jesus from the Law of
Moses and from the Prophets.
Acts 28:17 ISV - Three days later, Paul called the leaders of the Jews together.
When they assembled, he told them, "Brothers, although I haven't done
anything against our people or the customs of our ancestors, I was arrested in
Jerusalem and handed over to the Romans.
Acts 28:20 ISV - That's why I asked to see you and speak with
you, since it is
for the hope of Israel that I'm wearing this chain."
