Lust is something we can never get out of our
nature until we are changed. Our sinful nature will resist
letting go, because it will bring its head up at times we do not expect. When we repent and receive the Holy Spirit, a
creation is made, combining the Holy Spirit and the spirt in man. Lust is still there, but deep within us. Paul explains completely how I feel
sometimes, “Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the
flesh. For the flesh lusts against the
Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one
another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.”
James tells me “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from
you. (8) Draw near to God and He will draw near to
you.” Instead of having the works of the
flesh in my life, we want the fruit of the Holy Spirit directing my life.
Paul tells me “but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what
is that good and acceptable and perfect
will of God.” Paul again said, “For I
know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells” and what are we to
do “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there
is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”
Go
to our Father by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let our requests
be made known to God.
We should realize we are fighting
a losing battle just as Paul realized he was fighting a losing battle, should
we also at this time, for us to do the same thing.
Remember, we can't fight lust on our own, so ask the
Holy Spirit to help us with this sin. This is what grace is all about. God is good.
Blessings
Steve
Gal 5:16-17 NKJV I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the
flesh. (17) For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and
the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that
you do not do the things that you wish.
Gal 5:18-21 NKJV But if you are led by the
Spirit, you are not under the law. (19) Now the works of the flesh are evident, which
are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, (20) idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions,
jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, (21) envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and
the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such
things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Gal 5:22-23 NKJV But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, (23)
gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Jas 4:7-8 NKJV Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (8) Draw near to God and He will draw near to
you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you
double-minded.
Rom 12:2 NKJV And do not be conformed to this
world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is
that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Rom 7:18 NKJV For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells;
for to will is present with me, but how
to perform what is good I do not find.
Php 4:8 NKJV Finally, brethren, whatever
things are true, whatever things are
noble, whatever things are just,
whatever things are pure, whatever
things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there
is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
Php 4:6-7 NKJV Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with
thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; (7) and the peace of God, which surpasses all
understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
