A snapshot on the person, called Wayne Hinton

A snapshot on the person, called Wayne Hinton.
August 10, 2016

The first time Charlene and I met Wayne and Nita was around 2002 after Mr Ron Dart gave us Wayne phone number because we were looking for a church home.  One of the first things we were told, Wayne does not believe in fun, but we found this was an insider joke and we join in and kid with him all these years.

Wayne always seemed to put others first and helping out in anyway.  He would go the extra mile working with others.  He was very easy to talk with and was a very good listener and councilor.

With his example of showing love for others, he led our small church in sharing and giving to others.  We know the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Yes, Wayne was a righteous and praying person, but that righteousness comes from God.  The Apostle Paul tells us:

Romans 3:22-23 God's righteousness through the faithfulness of Jesus the Messiah—for all who believe.

An example of his concern for others.

We have a prayer list we go through each Sabbath and Wayne would always have the longest list of friends and family for to add to our daily prayers.  He could tell us how each person is doing with their particular trial, He would take the time to contact them and see how they are doing by spending time with them.

We would send out encouraging cards signed by our church group as well as flowers to those who need extra encouragement or just to let them know we are thinking of them.

Matthew 10:42  I tell you with certainty, whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is a disciple will never lose his reward."

Wayne would go to his grandchildren activities when he was physically able.  He would spend quantity and quality time with them and they had many sleepovers and wanted to sleep on the living room floor.

Wayne often does the small, insignificant, simple acts of love and kindness that do the most to help people experience the love of Jesus through his life.

Proverbs 18:24 A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

I would tease Wayne and Nita that they were still newlyweds on their anniversary, since Charlene and I were married almost a year longer.

Wayne would just sit there and smile.

Proverbs 18:22  Whoever finds a wife finds what is good, and receives favor from the LORD.

When we would talk, Wayne would always compare Nita with Proverbs 31

A couple of verses would come to mind.

Proverbs 31:10-12  Who can find a capable wife? Her value far exceeds the finest jewels.   Her husband has full confidence in her; as a result, he lacks nothing of value.  She will bring good to him—never evil—every day of her life.

Proverbs 31:28-29 Her children stand up and encourage her, as does her husband, who praises her:  "Many women have done wonderful things," he says, "but you surpass all of them!"

Wayne demonstrated Christian love in the Way he lived.

Luke 10:27 He answered, "You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind. And you must love your neighbor as yourself."

John 13:34-35 I am giving you a new commandment to love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.  This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."

Wayne, from my point of view, has done this with so many others.

When I talk about love, it is not something we can do on our own, but it is the Love that comes from God, that is one of the fruit of the Holy Spirit, in fact the first one listed.

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things.

Those who knew Wayne knows he practiced all the fruit of the Spirit.

We spend time on what we deem important. For many of us these choices are valid: time with family and friends, work, prayer, serving others.

By Wayne example, we knew God our Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus the Messiah came first in his life, then his bride of his youth, then family and finally the rest of his life experiences.

There are so many things that I could say about Wayne and Nita, the Feast of Tabernacles, his dry humor, things we all have done together as a church group, his many published books and so many other things, time is limited.

This is the man that I and many others of you sitting here came to know with deep respect and love for Wayne.

May he rest in peace until in a moment, faster than an eye can blink, at the sound of the last trumpet. Indeed, that trumpet will sound, and then the dead will be raised never to decay, and we will be changed.  We all will be changed and then, we all will be brought back together again.  (1Co 15:52)

Yes, Wayne was a man who loved others and others loved him.

Wayne Hinton, friend and Pastor, 72, March 8, 1944 - August 5, 2016, passed away suddenly Friday, August 5th, 2016.  Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 47 years, their 2 children and six grandkids.  Memorial Service was on Wednesday, August 10th at 2:00 PM.

Sickness and Healing

Sickness and Healing                                          September 24, 2016

Charlene and I had a very interesting week

Charlene niece and her husband came to visit and he came down sick.

He is a Vietnam veteran and has Agent Orange results, cancer in the neck and his bad hands cause him major problems.   He takes a large amount of morphine for the pain.  Right now he has pneumonia in the lungs and strep in the ICU unit.

He was put into hospital, in the ICU area.  Tuesday night, Release about 5 days later.

We look at our own sickness and illness. What does this mean.

What would you have to do if we lived during the times of Moses.

In the Old Testament, individual who are sick were to go see the Priests.

The Priests will examine the person.

A swelling, a scab, or a bright spot would often be a minor ailment that healed within a few days and caused no further concern. If a condition persisted, and became like a leprous sore, it required further attention.

Any given sore might or might not be leprous; that was for the priest to determine by examination.

Leviticus 14:2-6  "This is the law concerning those who have infectious skin diseases, after they have been cleansed.  (3)  "The priest is to go outside the camp and examine the infectious skin disease to confirm that the person has been healed.

(4)  If he has been healed, then the priest is to command that two live and clean birds, some cedar wood, some crimson thread, and hyssop be brought for the one cleansed.  (5)  Then the priest is to command that one bird be slaughtered on an earthen vessel over flowing water.  (6)  He is then to take the live bird, the cedar wood, the crimson thread, and the hyssop, dip them together with the bird in the blood of the bird that had been slaughtered over the flowing water.

The person had to do.   Two birds: one for death; the other typifying the resurrection.

What are we to do today, as a Christian or Believer,

We know that Jesus is our High Priest (we go to him) and Jesus became our sacrifice.

Hebrews 4:14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone to heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us live our lives consistent with our confession of faith.

1 John 2:1-2  My little children, I'm writing these things to you so that you might not sin. Yet if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus, the Messiah, one who is righteous.  (2)  It is he who is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the whole world's.

Jesus healed the lepers and told them to give the proper sacrifice for their sickness.  He sent them to the priests on the ground that Moses had commanded this in such cases.

Matthew 8:2-4  Suddenly a leper came up to him, fell down before him, and said, "Sir, if you want to, you can make me clean."  (3)  So Jesus reached out his hand, touched him, and said, "I do want to. Be clean!" And instantly his leprosy was made clean.  (4)  Then Jesus told him, "See to it that you don't speak to anyone. Instead, go and show yourself to the priest, and then offer the sacrifice that Moses commanded as proof to the authorities."

We read what that sacrifice was in Leviticus 14:4

We learn at each Passover why Jesus was beaten, because by the bruises and wounds he received, we are healed.

Isaiah 53:4-5 "Surely he has borne our sufferings and carried our sorrows; yet we considered him stricken, and struck down by God, and afflicted.  (5)  But he was wounded for our transgressions, and he was crushed for our iniquities, and the punishment that made us whole was upon him, and by his bruises we are healed.

1 Peter 2:22-24 "He never sinned, and he never told a lie."  (23)  When he was insulted, he did not retaliate. When he suffered, he did not threaten. It was his habit to commit the matter to the one who judges fairly.  (24)  "He himself bore our sins" in his body on the tree, so that we might die to those sins and live righteously. "By his wounds you have been healed."

Faith is very important in healing.  What is faith?

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance that what we hope for will come about and the certainty that what we cannot see exists.

Mark 5:34 And He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction."

Mark 10:51-52  So Jesus answered and said to him, "What do you want Me to do for you?" The blind man said to Him, "Rabboni, that I may receive my sight."  (52)  Then Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your faith has made you well." And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.

Luke 17:19  And He said to him, "Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well."

Our personal trust and confidence in Jesus, springing from faith in God

Matthew 9:2 Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, "Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you."

Matthew 9:35 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

Matthew 10:1  And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.

Matthew 10:8  Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

Luke 9:2  He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

Acts 5:14-16 And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women,  (15)  so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them.  (16)  Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.

When we are sick, we are to call the elders

James 5:13-16  Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms.

(14)  Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.  (15)  And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.  (16)  Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Anointed cloths

Acts 19:11-12  Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul,  (12)  so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them.

We know God has healed individual in ways that defy medical knowledge. We are told we are to pray for healing, either for ourselves or others. The Bible tells us to pray for whatever we need, and that surely includes freedom from pain.

We know that healing does not always occur, but we know if we are not healed during in this life, there is something greater awaiting us afterward.

Jeremiah 17:14 Heal me, LORD, and I'll be healed; deliver me, and I'll be delivered, because you are my praise.

Jeremiah 30:17 Indeed, I'll bring you healing, and I'll heal you of your wounds,' declares the LORD, because they have called you an outcast and have said, "It is Zion, no one cares for her!"'"

The Apostle Paul had a "thorn in the flesh" of some kind of physical problem.  Paul is a man of faith, yet he was healed of it.

2 Corinthians 12:8-10 I pleaded with the Lord three times to take it away from me,  (9)  but he has told me, "My grace is all you need, because my power is perfected in weakness." Therefore, I will most happily boast about my weaknesses, so that the Messiah's power may rest on me.  (10)  That is why I take such pleasure in weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and difficulties for the Messiah's sake, for when I am weak, then I am strong.

We know as a fact, every person who has ever been healed has died.   Jesus friend, Lazarus, was raised from the dead, but died again.

Jesus makes no promise that our present bodies, whatever our condition, will stay healthy or last forever. In fact, Jesus gives us a promise that something much more glorious: a new body, like our present ones but also different, a spiritual body made for eternity.

2 Corinthians  4:16 That's why we are not discouraged. No, even if outwardly we are wearing out, inwardly we are being renewed each and every day.

2 Corinthians 5:1-4 We know that if the earthly tent we live in is torn down, we have a building in heaven that comes from God, an eternal house not built by human hands.  (2)  For in this one we sigh, since we long to put on our heavenly dwelling.  (3)  Of course, if we do put it on, we will not be found without a body.  (4)  So while we are still in this tent, we sigh under our burdens, because we do not want to put it off but to put it on, so that our dying bodies may be swallowed up by life.

Paul is going to tell us a secret, most exciting secret

1 Corinthians 15:51-57 Let me tell you a secret. Not all of us will die, but all of us will be changed— (52)  in a moment, faster than an eye can blink, at the sound of the last trumpet. Indeed, that trumpet will sound, and then the dead will be raised never to decay, and we will be changed.  (53)  For what is decaying must be clothed with what cannot decay, and what is dying must be clothed with what cannot die.

(54)  Now, when what is decaying is clothed with what cannot decay, and what is dying is clothed with what cannot die, then the written word will be fulfilled: "Death has been swallowed up by victory!"  (55)  "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?"  (56)  Now death's stinger is sin, and sin's power is the Law.  (57)  But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus the Messiah!

We are waiting for our change, what a unbelievable miracle.

9-11 - September the Eleventh, a Day of Terror!

9-11 - September the 11th, a Day of Terror!  September 10, 2016

Tomorrow is 9-11, the 15th year anniversary.  The United States was attack, our way of life was attacked.  I know it affected us all differently

Discuss

·      Where were you when this happen

·      Did you see the airplanes crash into the twin towers on TV

·      Has it affected you in any way

Fifteen years ago, the United States wasn’t officially engaged in any wars.

Few of us had ever heard of Osama bin Laden or ISIS didn’t exist.  Now ISIS is now the main threat to America.

America’s involvement in the War on Terror — prompted by the 9/11 terrorist attacks — resulted in a dramatic change in our nation’s attitudes and concerns about safety and vigilance. It ushered in a new generation of policies like the USA Patriot Act concerning national security and defense, often at the expense of civil liberties.

What changes have we seen in our lives.

Ongoing wars

Our Military involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan

nearly 2 million were deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq. In that time, more than 6,000 American troops have been killed, and roughly 44,000 wounded.

Of returning service members, more than 18 percent have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or depression, and almost 20 percent have reported suffering from the effects of traumatic brain injury (TBI).  Today, around 20 veterans commit suicide daily.

Terrorist groups, ISIS,

·      Immigration and deportation

·      Created the Department of Homeland Security in 2002

·      Tasked with the protection of the U.S. and its borders

The friendly skies

Nov. 19, 2001, Congress passed the Aviation and Transportation Security Act

·      This is why we have Long airport lines,

·      Full body scans,

·      The occasional pat-down

·      Having to show an ID.,

·      Show up at the airport a few hours before your flight,

·      Take your shoes off as you pass security and

·      Can’t bring liquids on the plane.

·      Solid bulletproof doors protect the cockpit of all commercial aircraft.

·      Only ticketed passengers may pass through security.

Big surveillance, Domestic Spying

·      Growth resulted in a marked increase in government oversight,

primarily through a vast,

·      Secret network of phone and web surveillance

·      Expanded the ability of the National Security Agency (NSA) to collect data on U.S. citizens, foreign nationals and governments

·      Postal workers now always ask, “Does this parcel contain anything fragile, liquid, perishable, or potentially hazardous?”

·      Beef up security, from phones to computers to buildings, to homes.

Trust In the Government

·      We are now aware of foreign threats or the idea that the U.S. is not completely safe and a bit of fear.

·      Fears and anxiety have risen with a feeling of loss of safety and security

·      We can’t help but look at everyone with a skeptical eye

·      Christians being slaughter in the middle east, Europe and now in the United States.

·      We as a nation were threatened with biological and germ warfare as cases of Anthrax surfaced on the heels of the assault

·      Protect America infrastructure, water, electric grids,

What does all this mean

As Christians, we knew that we could only trust in God, therefore many individuals are starting to seek Him again as we see the end coming closer.

This end time period we are in should be approached in prayer and humility

What are we to do as a follower of Jesus, Paul tells us

1Timothy 4:13 Until I arrive, give your full concentration to the public reading of Scripture, to exhorting, and to teaching.

Revelation 1:3 How blessed is the one who reads aloud and those who hear the words of this prophecy and obey what is written in it, for the time is near!

Yes, the time is near as we see the day approaching.

Disciples wanted to know about the end of the age

Matthew 24:3-13 While Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately and said, "Tell us, when will these things take place, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"  (4)  Jesus answered them, "See to it that no one deceives you,  (5)  because many will come in my name and say, 'I am the Messiah,' and they will deceive many people.

(6)  You are going to hear of wars and rumors of wars. See to it that you are not alarmed. These things must take place, but the end hasn't come yet,  (7)  because nation will rise up in arms against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.  (8)  But all these things are only the beginning of the birth pains."  (9)  "Then they will hand you over to suffer and will kill you, and you will be hated by all the nations because of my name.  (10)  Then many people will fall away, will betray one another, and will hate one another.  (11)  Many false prophets will appear and deceive many people,  (12)  and because lawlessness will increase, the love of many people will grow cold.  (13)  But the person who endures to the end will be saved.

Luke 21:7-19  Then they asked him, "Teacher, when will these things take place, and what will be the sign that these things are about to take place?"  (8)  He said, "Be careful that you are not deceived, because many will come in my name and say, 'I AM' and 'The time has come.' Don't follow them.  (9)  When you hear of wars and revolutions, never be alarmed, because these sort of things must take place first, but the end won't come right away."  (10)  Then he went on to say to them, "Nation will rise up in arms against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.  (11)  There will be great earthquakes and famines and plagues in various places, and there will be fearful events and awful signs from heaven."  (12)  "But before all these things take place, people will arrest you and persecute you. They will hand you over to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name's sake.  (13)  It will give you an opportunity to testify.  (14)  So purpose in your hearts not to prepare your defense ahead of time,  (15)  because I will give you the ability to speak, along with wisdom, that none of your opponents will be able to resist or refute.  (16)  "You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends, and they will put some of you to death.  (17)  You will be hated continuously by everyone because of my name.  (18)  And yet not a hair on your head will be lost.  (19)  By your endurance you will protect your lives."

Was 9-11 A Wakeup Call

Why, we were asleep, Jesus said,

John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

The way Jesus wakes us up is by speaking to us through His Word and by His Holy Spirit.

Jesus from the Scriptures gives us a warning to repent and change our direction of life and how we live.

We have been warned that if we force God out of our homes, schools, businesses, and government, it will allow the enemy (Satan) to come in and wreak havoc in our lives. God wants us to turn to Him before we experience any destruction, not be driven to Him through the destruction that comes as a result of disobeying Him.

Ephesians 5:14-18 for the light is making everything visible. That is why it says, "Wake up, sleeper! Arise from the dead, and the Messiah will shine on you.''  (15)  So, then, be careful how you live. Do not be unwise but wise,  (16)  making the best use of your time because the times are evil.  (17)  Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.  (18)  Stop getting drunk with wine, which leads to wild living, but keep on being filled with the Spirit.

We are warned in this scripture to “wake up” and be filled with the spirit so that we can understand what the will of God is. Because the Lord is a merciful God

Evil men who followed Satan did these evil deeds. What is a believer to do.

2 Chronicles 7:14  when my people humble themselves—the ones who are called by my name—and pray, seek me, and turn away from their evil practices, I myself will listen from heaven, I will pardon their sins, and I will restore their land.

Jesus allows the enemy to exist, but we are told how to overcome him.

1 John 5:1-5  Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Messiah has been born from God, and everyone who loves the parent also loves the child.  (2)  This is how we know that we love God's children: we love God and keep his commandments.  (3)  For this demonstrates our love for God: We keep his commandments, and his commandments are not difficult,  (4)  because everyone who is born from God has overcome the world. Our faith is the victory that overcomes the world.  (5)  Who overcomes the world? Is it not the person who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

We believe from the deepest of our heart, that Jesus will return shortly to the earth, set up His government and all mankind will submit to His rule.  We will be change at His coming.

Isaiah 2:4  He will judge between the nations, and will render verdicts for the benefit of many. "They will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nations will not raise swords against nations, and they will not learn warfare anymore.

A place of safety, security and the Word of God will be everywhere.  This is what the fall feast is all about.  We will cover them in the next few weeks.
