Mark 15:22-16:20 Jesus Final Hours: February 27, 2021: www.seachord.org

 Mark 15:22-16:20  Jesus Final Hours          February 27, 2021

 What happen to Jesus during this time.  We know the extreme hatred the Pharisees and other Jewish leaders had for Jesus. The Leadership kept insulting Him, mocking Him, making fun of Him among themselves, shaking their heads at Him all the while Jesus was on the cross and being crucified.

Mark 15:22  And they took Jesus to the place called Golgotha, which is translated, Place of a Skull.

Just outside the city wall.

Mark 15:23  Then they gave Him wine mixed with myrrh to drink, but He did not take it.

Jesus wanted to face the pain of the cross with a clear mind, and not “medicated” in any way.

Mark 15:24 Then they crucified him. They divided his clothes among themselves by throwing dice to see what each one would get.

They divide My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots.    {fulfillment of the prophecy) Psalms 22:18

Mark 15:25 It was nine in the morning when they crucified him.

Just think, within 3 hours, Jesus from the Jews to Pilate to cross. Not much time.  Jesus suffered on the Cross until at least 3 P.M.

Mark 15:26 The written notice of the charge against him read, "The king of the Jews."

The inscription placed over Jesus’ head appeared in three languages: Hebrew (Aramaic); Latin, the official language of government; and Greek, the common language spoken by many.

The complete sign must have read, “This is Jesus the Nazarene, the King of the Jews.”

·      The reason the Jews were upset, was because how Pilate wrote King of the Jews, H W H Y, spelled the name of God in Hebrew.

·      This is how Pilate got even with the Jews for what they have done to him.

Mark 15:27 With Him they also crucified two robbers, one on His right and the other on His left.   {we know from Luke, they also mocked Jesus}

Mark 15:28 So the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "AND HE WAS NUMBERED WITH THE TRANSGRESSORS."   {Where in Scriptures}

Quoted: Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors.  {We see this refers to Jesus according to Mark} Isaiah 53:12

Mark 15:29 Those who passed by kept insulting him, shaking their heads, and saying, "Ha! You who were going to destroy the sanctuary and rebuild it in three days      {still mocking Jesus in many ways}

Mark 15:30 save Yourself, and come down from the cross!"

Mark 15:31 In the same way the high priests, along with the scribes, were also making fun of him among themselves. They kept saying, "He saved others but can't save himself!

Mark 15:32 Let the Messiah, the king of Israel, come down from the cross now, since seeing is believing!" Even the men who were crucified with him kept insulting him.

The Death of Jesus

Mark 15:33 At noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon.   {a full 3 hours of darkness)

This darkness was a supernatural darkening of the skies.

Mark 15:34 At three o'clock Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "Eloi, eloi, lema sabachthani?", which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

Jesus is quoting Psalms 22:1, when the Father turn His back or forsake  Jesus, all sin was put on Jesus at that time.

At that very moment Jesus was banished from the presence of God, for sin cannot exist in God’s presence.

For the Messiah also suffered for sins once for all, an innocent person for the guilty, so that he could bring you to God. He was put to death in a mortal body but was brought to life by the Spirit, 1 Peter 3:18

Mark 15:35  Some of those who stood by, when they heard that, said, "Look, He is calling for Elijah!"

Mark 15:36 Then someone ran and filled a sponge full of sour wine, put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink, saying, "Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to take Him down."

Mark 15:37 And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last.

After Jesus had taken the wine, he said, "It is finished." Then he bowed his head and released his spirit.  {At the very end, Jesus was still able to speak right up to the moment of His death} John 19:30:  Jesus work was finished on earth

The Greek word “tetelestai” means “paid in full” because Jesus paid in full the debt of sin we owed.  Jesus released up His Spirit.

Mark 15:38 Then the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

The Father tore the vail from top to bottom to remove the separation from Him to us, so we have access to the Father through prayer.

Mark 15:39 So when the centurion, who stood facing Jesus, saw that He cried out like this and breathed His last, he said, "this Man certainly was the Son of God!"        (why did this saying, happen)

Mark 15:40 Now there were women watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of young James and Joseph, and Salome.

Mark 15:41 They used to accompany him and care for him while he was in Galilee. Many other women who had come up to Jerusalem with him were there, too.

Finally, the faithful disciples of Jesus are revealed, His female followers.  The women knew what was coming, the guys did not.

Jesus Is Buried

Mark 15:42 Now when evening had come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,     (1st Day of Unleavened Bread)

Mark 15:43 Joseph of Arimathea, a highly respected member of the Council, who was waiting for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. {Matt 27:57 - become a disciple of Jesus}

Mark 15:44 Pilate marveled that He was already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him if He had been dead for some time.

Mark 15:45 So when he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.

Joseph was known to Pilate (Tin ships) and had to be a next of kin.

Mark 15:46  Then he bought fine linen, took Him down, and wrapped Him in the linen. And he laid Him in a tomb which had been hewn out of the rock, and rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.  {Tombs very expensive}

Mark 15:47 Now Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joseph observed where the body had been laid.

The Resurrection

Mark 16:1 Now when the Sabbaths was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him.  {these women, proved themselves,most devoted followers}

Sunday Morning

1st Day of Unleavened Bread and the weekly Sabbath

(Sabbaths were past:  The Greek, is plural)

Salome was mother of James and John.  (Matt 27:56)

Why spices:  Spices were not used for mummification, which was not a Jewish custom, but to offset the odors from the body decomposition.”

Mark 16:2 Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.   (around 7 am then)

Mark 16:3  And they said among themselves, "Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?"

Notice they were not even expecting that the stone would be rolled away.

Suddenly there was a powerful earthquake, because an angel of the Lord had come down from heaven, approached the stone, rolled it away, and was sitting on top of it. *Matthew 28:2

Mark 16:4 But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away--for it was very large.       (Why rolled away?)

It was rolled away so that others could see in and be persuaded that Jesus Christ was risen from the dead.

Mark 16:5 And entering the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed.

Mark focuses on the one angel.

Mark 16:6 But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.

Resurrection isn’t just living again; it is living again in a new body, based on our old body, New body is perfectly suited for life in eternity.

Chosen by God as the first human witnesses to Christ’s resurrection, these women were commanded to go and tell.

The actual event of Jesus resurrection is nowhere described

Mark 16:7  But go, tell His disciples--and Peter--that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you."

Jesus are always fulfilled on His part. He said that He would meet them in Galilee and indeed he did

Mark 16:8  So they went out quickly and fled from the tomb, for they trembled and were amazed. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.   {they did not discuss it among themselves}

They returned from the tomb and reported all these things to the eleven disciples and all the others.  Luke 24:9

Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene – These next verses did not exist in a few earliest Greek manuscripts, majority do include these passages.

Mark 16:9  Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons.

Mark 16:10 She went and told those who had been with Him, as they mourned and wept.

They experienced personal and emotional loss with the execution of Jesus.

Mark 16:11  And when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe.

Her testimony would not be considered reliable because she was a woman - but Jesus trusted her, even though the disciples did not.

Mary Magdalene ran to tell Peter and John (Jn 20:2-10) and then lingered at the tomb after they left. It was then that Jesus appeared to her (Jn 20:11-18).

Peter, we know, got up and ran to the tomb and saw only the linen cloths. Then he went home, wondering about what had happened.   *Luke 24:12

Jesus Appears to Two Disciples

Mark 16:12  After that, He appeared in another form to two of them as they walked and went into the country.

Then their eyes were opened, and they knew who he was. And he vanished from them. *Luke 24:31

Mark 16:13  And they went and told it to the rest, but they did not believe them either.

They did not receive the testimony of these two men either.

Then the two men began to tell what had happened on the road and how they had recognized him when he broke the bread in pieces. Luke 24:35

The Great Commission

Mark 16:14 Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.

While they were [eating] and still talking about this, Jesus himself
came" and stood among [the Eleven]" and said to them, "Peace be
with you!"

"Look at my hands and my feet. It is I, myself. Touch me and
see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have."

When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet and
side.

Jesus asked them, "Do you have anything here to eat?"
They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate it in
their presence. So the disciples were overjoyed when they saw the
Lord.

Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples that are not recorded in this book. *John 20:30

Mark 16:15  And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.   {this is our marching orders}

This is a command, not a suggestion, the Great Commission.

The idea of a faith that would go into all the world wasn’t a part of the Jewish or pagan thinking of Jesus’ day. It was revolutionary idea in its time.

This command was not obeyed immediately; for many years, the disciples stayed at Jerusalem, and it was only until the church was persecuted that it began to spread out to the world.  Peter went first to the Gentile officer.

Mark 16:16  He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.  {He must believe first, then baptize}

Mark 16:17  And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;

Mark 16:18  they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."    { Jesus promise of divine power and protection}

After he had suffered, he had shown himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing to them during a period of 40 days and telling them about the kingdom of God.  {now, they are excited} Acts 1:3

The Ascension

Luke tells us: Later, he led them out as far as Bethany, lifted up his hands, and blessed them. (51) While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up to heaven. Luke 24:50-51

Mark 16:19  So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.

Luke: After saying this, Jesus was taken up while those who had gathered together were watching, and a cloud took him out of their sight. Acts 1:9

Mark 16:20  And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

Notice: The preaching came first, then the signs following; signs are to follow believers, instead of us follow after signs.

Book of John 7:25-53: February 20, 2021: www.seachord.org

Book of John 7:25-53                            February 20, 2021

Question that is being asked, Can this man be the Messiah

Jesus is teaching from the Temple

Only the Apostle John covers this happening at the Temple.

John 7:25 Then some of the people of Jerusalem began saying, "This is the man they are trying to kill, isn't it?

Residents of the city of Jerusalem understood the purposes of the rulers,  (vs. visitors were ignorant what was going on).

John 7:26 But look! He speaks boldly, and they say nothing to Him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is truly the Christ?

Wondering why Jewish Leadership letting Jesus teach openly and boldly, not contradict him or forbid him from speaking.  Is He truly the Messiah.

John 7:27 However, we know where this Man is from; but when the Christ comes, no one knows where He is from."

This seems to refer to some current opinion that Messiah’s origin would be mysterious, from which they concluded that Jesus could not be He, since they knew all about His family at Nazareth.

The Jewish Leaders admission that the Messiah was to be supernaturally born: of a virgin!  And would come from Bethlehem {Micah 5:2}

John 7:28 At this point Jesus, still teaching in the Temple, shouted, "So you know me and know where I have come from? I have not come on my own accord. But the one who sent me is true, and he is the one you do not know.              {people of Jerusalem}

Jesus shouted and reminded the leaders that they knew His origin. Their problem was that they did not know God, who sent Jesus. He explained to them that 1} He knew God, 2} He was from God, and 3} He was sent by God

John 7:29 I know him because I have come from him and He sent me."

**Hebrews 5:5 In the same way, the Messiah did not take upon himself the glory of being a high priest. No, it was God who said to him, "You are my Son. Today I have become your Father."

John 7:30 Then they tried to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him because his hour had not yet come.

·      It’s interesting that even though they were anxious to take Jesus, they couldn’t touch Him until His hour had come.

·      The wicked cannot do what they desire, but what the Father has appointed what they can do.

The leaders {mob} try to seize Jesus because many believed in Him.

John 7:31 However, many in the crowd believed in him, saying, "When the Messiah comes, he won't do more signs than this man has done, will he?"

In contrast to the leaders, many of the Jewish people believed because of the miracles Jesus performed

Officers Sent to Arrest Jesus

John 7:32 The Pharisees heard the crowd debating these things about him, so the high priests and the Pharisees sent officers to arrest Jesus.

·      The Pharisees and chief priests, that is, the Sanhedrim, sent officers to seize him.

·      This was an official act, I believe the first official attempt of the Sanhedrim to take Jesus life.

·      They had wanted to do it before, but had not taken action.

John 7:33 Then Jesus said, "I will be with you only a little while longer, and then I am going back to the one who sent me.

Jesus foretells His death and then return to heaven and sit at the right hand of the Father.

John 7:34 You will look for me but will not find me. And where I am, you cannot come."

The Jews did not understand these plain words. Jesus in Heaven. Not while on earth or after life is over, if you die in your sins.

·      We know Jesus’ time on earth was limited; soon He would be crucified, died and resurrected and then ascend to the Father.

·      His life was not determined by any of the Jewish religious leaders, but by only the Father.

John 7:35 The Jews said to one another, "Where does this man intend to go that we cannot find him? Will he go where our people live scattered among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?

·      The Jewish leaders were puzzled by this statement. “Where is he planning to go?” they asked.

·      “Maybe he is thinking of leaving the country and going as a missionary among the Jews in other lands, or maybe even to the Gentiles!

John 7:36 What does this statement mean that he said, 'You will look for me but will not find me,' and 'Where I will be, you cannot come'?"

The Jews still did not understand what Jesus said

Jesus talks about the Rivers of Living Water

John 7:37 On the last and most important day of the festival, Jesus stood up and shouted, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink!

Probably the eighth day, possibly the seventh. The eighth was a day of holy rest added to the seven days of the feast.

·      Jewish writers says on each day of the feast, the people came with palm branches and marched around the great altar.

·      The priest had water that was brought every day of the feast in a golden pitcher from the pool of Siloam and poured upon the altar, as an offering, singing to one to another, blew their trumpets and shouted.

On the last day of the feast, the 7th or 8th day, the people marched seven times around the altar in memory of the seven circuits around the walls of Jericho

It is thought that it was when this water was poured out that Jesus shouted; and pointed to the living water: “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink!”

On this day likewise they remember God's miracle of giving water out of the rock, and offered up solemn prayers for season rains.

·      The 8th day is the day for prayers for rains for their crops for the next year.

·      On the seven days the Jews professed to offer sacrifices for the seventy nations of the earth,

·      but on the eighth day they offered sacrifices for Israel; therefore the eighth day was more highly esteemed than any of the others.  Numbers 29:12-34, 35 {1-Bull},36-40

John 7:38 The one who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, will have rivers of living water flowing from his heart."

Seven days in booths; the 8th day—the Great Day—the special Sabbath, is when Jesus made His first announcement of the coming of the Holy Spirit.

·      In contrast to the small amount of water poured out each day during the feast, there will be a river of water coming out of those who believe in Christ.

·      Not only will they be satisfied themselves, but they will also become a river so that others may drink and be satisfied.

·      Jesus made His announcement of the coming of the Holy Spirit, in individuals and flowing out to others.

John 7:39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

·      The Holy Spirit had not yet been given because Jesus was not yet glorified.

·      The Holy Spirit did not come until the Day of Pentecost.

·      Then the Holy Spirit came to indwell believers and to form them into one body.

The coming of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost assures us that Jesus had arrived back at the Father’s throne.

There is a Division Among the People

John 7:40-41 When they heard these words, some in the crowd were saying, "This really is the Prophet," (41) while others were saying, "This is the Messiah!" But some were saying, "The Messiah doesn't come from Galilee, does he?

These individuals thought Jesus was from Galilee

John 7:42 Doesn't the Scripture say that the Messiah is from David's family and from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?"

·      These people knew that the Messiah was to come from Bethlehem

·      How could the people forget that Jesus was born there, because had not Herod given them a terrible reason to remember it.

John 7:43 So there was a division in the crowd because of him.

They knew the Scripture, but they did not take the time to know Jesus.

John 7:44 Some of them were wanting to seize him, but no one laid hands on him.

Some of the people would on their own responsibility wished they would carry Jesus before the Sanhedrin.

John 7:45-46 Then the officers returned to the high priests and Pharisees, who asked them, "Why didn't you bring him?" (46) The officers answered, "No man ever spoke like that!"

·      The soldiers could have stated that they failed to arrest Christ because of the danger of the crowd but they did not.

·      Instead, they reported that Jesus was not like anyone they had ever heard speak.

John 7:47-49 Then the Pharisees replied to them, "You haven't been deceived, too, have you? (48) None of the authorities or Pharisees has believed in him, have they? (49) But this mob that does not know the Law, they're under a curse!"   {quoted Deut 28:15}

·      Jews reasoned, if the religious rulers did not believe in Jesus, He could not be the Messiah.

·      In fact, though the poor heard Jesus gladly, the religious rulers were among the least likely to believe in Christ.

·      He threatened their positions. They had sold out to power and riches.

John 7:50-51 One of their own, Nicodemus (the man who had previously met with Jesus), asked them, (51) "Surely our Law does not condemn a person without first hearing from him and finding out what he is doing, does it?"

“Nicodemus”: It has been a year and a half since John Chapter 3:

John 7:52 They answered him, "You aren't from Galilee, too, are you? Search and see that no prophet comes from Galilee."

Nicodemus tries to reason with the Jewish leaders, made a plea for justice, but his plea was rejected.

John 7:53 Then each of them went to their own home.

·      And every man went to his own house - So that short plain question of Nicodemus spoiled all their measures; and broke up the council.

·      Their plot could not at this time be carried into effect.

·      A word spoken in season; how good it is! Especially when God gives it his blessing.

Now, the Feast of Tabernacles being now over.

Psalms Chapter 4 – 6: February 13, 2021: www.seachord.org

Psalms Chapter 4 – 6                                  February 13, 2021

To the Chief Musician. With Stringed Instruments. A Psalm of David.

Answer Me When I Call

Psalms 4:1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.

·      Interesting, Can we really expect God to hear us if we do not call or pray to Him.

·      Have mercy or show favor to us, if we do not pray to Him.

·      The Father has our prayers saved, do we have much in the saved area.

The phrase has two meanings: (1) only God is righteous; and (2) all of a person’s righteousness is found in Jesus alone.

Remember, we have Jesus living in us and the Father sees Jesus righteousness in us.

2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Psalms 4:2 How long, O you sons of men, Will you turn my glory to shame? How long will you love vanity and seek falsehood? Selah

·      God is speaking to the wicked, a lie, untruth or deceptive thing.

·      The wicked were not following God and trying to destroy God’s reputation / honor

·      Their appointed leader; they support lies and deceit.

Psalms 4:3 Know that the LORD has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him.

·      God has identified and called those who are devoted to Jesus and His ways.

·      God exercises special care over us and listens to our prayers.

I believe everyone has used the following quote from Psalms.

2 Thessalonians 2:13 But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.

Psalms 4:4 Be angry, and do not sin. Think about this when upon your beds, and be silent. Selah

The Apostle Paul quoted these words

Ephesians 4:26 "BE ANGRY, AND DO NOT SIN": do not let the sun go down on your wrath,

We are told to lie quietly upon our bed and be in silent meditation about God

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is fair, whatever is pure, whatever is acceptable, whatever is commendable, if there is anything of excellence and if there is anything praiseworthykeep thinking about these things.

Psalms 4:5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And put your trust in the LORD.

Paul wrote:  **Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

God is telling us about sacrifices and calls us to put our faith in Jesus

Psalms 4:6 Many are asking, "Who will help us to see better days?" LORD, may the light of your favor shine upon us.

Although our everyday lives often seem to be filled with uncertainty, Important to remember, there is never uncertainty with God.

Psalms 4:7 You have given me more joy in my heart than at harvest times, when grain and wine abound.

The joy of God’s presence in me means more to me than good food and wine.  The Holy Spirit living in us gives us the joy and peace we need.

Psalms 4:8 I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety

God’s peace will enable an anxious or worried person to lie down and sleep and feel safe.  Especially what is going on in our nation right now.

Psalms 5:1-12

To the Director: For flutes. A Psalm of David.

Lead me in your Righteousness

Psalms 5:1 LORD, listen to my words, consider my groaning.

Please listen to my plea, Father, for I will never pray to anyone but you.

Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.  (27)  Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Psalms 5:2 Pay attention to my cry for help, my king and my God, for unto you will I pray.

Psalms 5:3 LORD, in the morning you will hear my voice; in the morning I will pray to you, and I will watch for your answer.

The first action of the day is to pray to you in heaven.  Pray in the morning, to start the day out, then wait, with patience and trust for an answer to my prayer.

Jesus example:

Mark 1:35 In the morning, while it was still very dark, Jesus got up and went to a deserted place and prayed there.

What does Jesus do with our prayers we say to the Father

Revelation 5:8 When the lamb had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders bowed down in front of him. Each held a harp and a gold bowl full of Incense, the Prayers of the Saints.

Our prayers are like Incense and puts them into a Gold Bowl to keep.

Psalms 5:4 For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome.

There is no enjoyment to be found in evil.  God will not tolerate evil.

Psalms 5:5 Boastful ones will not stand before you; you hate all those who practice wickedness.

Notice, the few verses the Father show He hates practice wickedness.

Matthew 7:23 And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

Psalms 5:6 You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; The LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.

God will destroy individuals for their lies and how you hate People who sheds innocent blood {murderers} and deception.   Is lies one of the worse things.

Romans 1:32 Although they know God's just requirement—that those who practice such things deserve to die—they not only do these things but even applaud others who practice them.

Psalms 5:7 But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in fear of You I will worship toward your Holy Temple.

Notice the Temple as yet been built, but the Tabernacle was called the House of God, the residence of God. {1 Ch 9:23}

Jesus was in both the Tabernacle and Temple.  Remember, we are the Temple of the Holy Spirit and Jesus lives in us.

We are allowed to come into the Temple protected by your mercy and love, since we have Jesus living in us.

Psalms 5:8 LORD, lead me in your righteousness because of my enemies. Make your path straight before me.

As long as we have the righteousness of Jesus in us, We may ask Jesus to make known in which “The Way” we should walk or turn to. Our enemy, Satan, is walking around like a lion.

Psalms 5:9 But as for the wicked, they do not speak truth at all. Inside them there is only wickedness. Their throat is an open grave, on their tongue is deceitful flattery.

These words describe the perverse language used by the wicked in opposition to the Father and Jesus.

Paul used this verse:

Romans 3:13 "Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit." "The poison of vipers is on their lips."

Wicked hearts are full of sin and mouths filled with deceitful flatteries

Psalms 5:10 Declare them guilty, God! Let them fall by their own schemes. Drive them away because of their many transgressions, for they have rebelled against you.

David prayed for justice. Anyone who resents this kind of praying can’t pray “Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven.”

If we are troubled by this, perhaps we don’t hate sin enough to get upset at the wickedness and godlessness around us.  We have gotten too used to the darkness.

Contain curses for the punishment of enemies

Psalms 5:11 But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You.

Philippians 4:4 Keep on rejoicing in the Lord at all times. I will say it again: Keep on rejoicing!

When we are changed at Jesus return, we will shout for joy

Psalms 5:12 Indeed, you will bless the righteous one, LORD, like a large shield, you will surround him with favor.

The Father bless and protect the Saints with His Shield of Love

Psalms 6:1-10

O Lord, Deliver My Life

To the Director: With stringed instruments. On an eight-stringed harp. A Davidic Psalm.

Psalms 6:1 LORD, in your anger, do not rebuke me, in your wrath, do not discipline me.

Do we not feel this way sometimes?

Psalms 6:2 Be gracious to me, LORD, because I am fading away. Heal me, because my bones are in agony.

We pray to the Father for I am weak in the flesh, heal me, for my body and my soul is sick and diseased, because Jesus died for us, only He can help me.

We plead for mercy, be gracious or show favor to one of your Saints during these crises we are in.

Psalms 6:3 My soul also is greatly troubled; But You, O LORD; how long?

How Long shows up 16 time in the Book of Psalms.  Strong emotion.

We are to accept our trial and submit and pray that the lesson is not wasted.

Matthew 5:11-12 "How blessed are you whenever people insult you, persecute you, and say all sorts of evil things against you falsely because of me!  (12)  Rejoice and be extremely glad, because your reward in heaven is great! That's how they persecuted the prophets who came before you."

Jesus used these words approaching the Cross.

John 12:27 "Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save Me from this hour'? But for this purpose I came to this hour.

Psalms 6:4 Return, O LORD, deliver me! Oh, save me for Your mercies' sake!

Return is the call for God to act, is based on our faith,

My God, please make me well and in your kindness save me.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;

Psalms 6:5 In death, there is no memory of you. Who will give you thanks where the dead are?

In Death – we have no memory of God and being created to praise God.  If we are in the grave, we cannot help individuals or give you any glory to your name or by praising you before my friends.

Psalms 6:6 I am weary from my groaning. Every night my couch is drenched with tears, my bed is soaked through.

By these words, it shows the abundance as well as intensity of grief is depicted.

Did not Jesus have drops of blood.

Luke 22:44 In his anguish he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat became like large drops of blood falling on the ground.

Psalms 6:7 My eyesight has faded because of grief, it has dimmed because of all my enemies.

Psalms 6:8 Get away from me, all of you who practice evil, for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping.

God has heard his prayer and no longer fears his enemies.

Luke 13:27 But he will tell you, 'I don't know where you come from. Get away from me, all you who practice evil!'

Psalms 6:9 The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD receives my prayer.

Two times he said this with confident of faith, God will answer our prayers

1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him: if we ask for anything according to his will, he listens to us.

Psalms 6:10 As for all my enemies, they will be put to shame; they will be greatly frightened and suddenly turn away ashamed.

Luke 13:17 And when He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him.

·      When the wicked think the Saints will perish, by faith God will delivers us suddenly, and destroys our enemies.

·      This is both physical {individuals} and spiritual {demons} enemies that will be dishonored, terror-stricken and disgraced.
