Fear, Common Sense and Faith                March 28, 2020

Let’s discuss something that has affected each of us and been on our minds the last few weeks.

What have been happening are the news outlets and government has been telling our people that this virus is so deadly that we have to be quarantine and are quarantine from this contagious or infectious China virus disease because our country is in the midst of a deadly pandemic.   

We have seen panic, fear, anger and doubt in so many people. All we have to do is look at the grocery stores.  Toilet paper.  Do you have yours.

We know Fear is a basic human emotion: describing the inner condition of the heart.

Somewhere in all our thinking God has to figure into the equation of fear. There must be a reason that the Bible tells us (in various ways and in various places) to “fear not” or do not fear. 

God told us to “fear not” because he knew that we would all wrestle with fear sooner or later.

Abraham’s example of waiting for a child.

Genesis 12:1-3 Now the LORD had said to Abram: "Get out of your country, From your family And from your father's house, To a land that I will show you. (2) I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. (3) I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."

When we move, we really do not know what to expect.  Especially across state lines.

We know to become a great nation, Abraham needs a child. From reading the Scriptures God didn’t seem to be in a hurry to give Abraham and Sara a son.  Would doubt and fear come into their minds, did something displeasing to God, should we go to Plano B.  By now,

Genesis 15:1-4 After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward." (2) But Abram said, "Lord GOD, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?" (3) Then Abram said, "Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!" (4) And behold, the word of the LORD came to him, saying, "This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir."

Why could Abraham doubt God’s Promise.

• Abraham was 75 when first spoke to him.
• Abraham was 85 when God said, Fear not.
• Abraham was 100 when Isaac was born. (too old)
• Sarah also doubted.  Sarah laughed.

Genesis 18:12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, "After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?"

God told them and us, you and me, that “He is our shield” which means He protects and rescues us in time of doubt, fear, and danger.

Deuteronomy 31:8 Indeed, the LORD is the One who will keep on walking in front of you. He'll be with you and won't leave you or abandon you, so never be afraid and never be dismayed."

We know, nothing can harm us without God’s permission.  Not cancer, physical disability, terrible accident, or any other 1000 other sorrows that afflict us a God’s Children.  

As you know, we are not immune to this sadness and what happens to others also happens to us.  The big difference is this; we know that God protects us from harm so that nothing can touch us that don’t first pass through God’s hands of love.  Sure we weep and suffer, but Paul tells us:  

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is unusual for human beings. But God is faithful, and he will not allow you to be tempted beyond your strength. Instead, along with the temptation he will also provide a way out, so that you may be able to endure it.

Faith is very important to grow stronger through a difficult situation, fear and doubt.  God’s answer to fear for us, remember we just read, the Lord said, “Fear not. I am your shield.” God himself is the final answer to every fear of the human heart.

We pray, claiming God’s promises of protection, because we know God can be trusted to what is right.  Regardless what happens to each of us, we can still trust in our Heavenly Father.  The Father is faithful to keep everyone of His promises.

Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'

Isaiah 43:1 But now this is what the LORD says, the one who created you, Jacob, the one who formed you, Israel: "Do not be afraid, because I've redeemed you. I've called you by name; you are mine.

Jesus tells us about our hairs on my head.

Matthew 10:29-31 Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father's will. (30) But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. (31) Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Very encouraging words:

Psalms 34:19 A righteous person will have many troubles, but the LORD will deliver him from them all.

Living under Fear, Anxiety and Worry can cause serious health consequences.  This fear can cause weaken our immune system and cause damage to our physical and mental body.

Philippians 4:6  Do not be anxious {or worry} about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Jesus tells us:

Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

John 10:27-29 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. (28) And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. (29) My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand.

We know already, when someone is sick, what we are to do.

James 5:13-14 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. (14) Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.

When we hear bad news happening around us, don’t immediately jump up and do everything you can think of to protect yourself out of fear. 

The first thing we should do is sit down (rest), think about it,  Think about God’s Word, then Use some common sense.  

Yes, I said, sit down, before you do anything.  Why, because we are told to.

We are protected because of Jesus’ finished work.”

Why can I say this, because of Psalms 91.  This Psalm is a picture of the all-encompassing hands of God, protecting and blessing us, yes, each of us and never be snatch out of their hands.

To me, the following verses is why we can feel safe in the hands of our Lord and our Father.

Psalms 91:1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

dwells: Yashab, means to properly to sit down, as a judge, in ambush, in quiet.  In His arms.

Psalms 91:2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust."

Psalms 91:3 He will surely deliver you from the hunter's snare and from the destructive plague.   Virus?

Psalms 91:4  He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge {find safety}; His truth shall be your shield and buckler {or armor}.

Jesus protects us from the top and described Himself as a mother hen under whose wings can come for refuge.

Shield and buckler indicates complete protective shield for us 

Psalms 91:5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day,

No matter what time of the day, we are covered by Jesus protection from evil in general. 

Psalms 91:6  Nor of the pestilence {or plague} that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

Again, No matter what time of the day, we are covered by Jesus protection. 

Psalms 91:7  A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.

Jesus protects us on our left and on our right and the punishment of the wicked is as sure as the deliverance of the righteous.

Psalms 91:8  Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked.

Punishment of the wicked.

Psalms 91:9  Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place,

Psalms 91:10  No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;

Jesus protects our household and our family

Psalms 91:11  For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.

God gives the angels for our protection, no matter what the danger

Psalms 91:12 In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.

Psalms 91:13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

Jesus protects us from the dangers below  

Psalms 91:14  "Because he has set his love {focus} upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.

Love means cling, holding close to, even hugging tightly in love.

Psalms 91:15  He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.

Psalms 91:16 With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation."

Jesus protection will see us through all our years and will result in long life.

Psalm 91 concludes in a dramatic manner, a direct promise from the Father to the Son concerning His ultimate victory over death itself

1 Corinthians 15:20-21 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. (21) For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead.

And finally, Paul said about us very encouraging words

1 Corinthians 15:51-54 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed-- (52) in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 

(53) For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. (54) So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP IN VICTORY."

We will then be changed to Spirit Being at His coming 

And finally, stay home if we are to stay home and help stop this virus!


Many are praying, but God doesn't work this way, he expects us to do our part and only after this, pray!

Pray for the doctors and nurses, truck drivers, first responders, store workers and farmers and all those fighting to save our life and to keep us safe, but we need to do our part. 

Stay home, wash your hands and trim your nails, keep clean. Quarantine if you think you've been exposed.

Voluntary Sacrifice – Sweet aroma to the LORD

Burnt Offering; Meal Offering; Pease Offering

Mandatory non-sweet savor for us: The Cleansing from God

Sin Offering; The Guild or Trespass Offering

These offering or sacrifices are hard to understand, so many rules and terminology. All are called, Burnt Offerings, but how is it used.

Have to careful when we say, Burnt Offering {169 times} or Burnt Sacrifice {16 times}.  Same word, H5930 used different ways and used in every sacrifice.   

Offerings were often cooked and most of it eaten by the Priests and / or the offeror and a small part burnt on the altar.

**Burnt offerings had a regular schedule time to be made every day, morning and evening with a Grain Offering  {Exodus 29:38-42, Numbers 28:3-8; 2 Chronicles 2:4}

**An additional Burnt Offering was to be offered up each Sabbath day and other times in the year {Numbers 28:9-10,11,16,26,27, 29:1,6}

Whole Burnt Offering – only two places mention in certain versions

**1 Samuel 7:9 NKJV And Samuel took a suckling lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the LORD. Then Samuel cried out to the LORD for Israel, and the LORD answered him.

**Psalms 51:19 NKJV Then You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, With burnt offering and whole burnt offering; Then they shall offer bulls on Your altar.   {both mention same verse}

**Deuteronomy 13:16 NIV  You are to gather all the plunder of the town into the middle of the public square and completely burn the town and all its plunder as a whole burnt offering to the LORD your God. That town is to remain a ruin forever, never to be rebuilt,

** "You shall not sacrifice to the LORD your God a bull or sheep which has any blemish or defect, for that is an abomination to the LORD your God. **Deuteronomy 17:1

Whole Burnt offering {Lev 1:3-9, Lev 6:8-13}

This is the oldest offering known to man. We covered the offering of Abel, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Moses on altars. Burnt Offering was before the giving of the law.

The burnt sacrifice, means “that which ascends. and going up in smoke,  

Basic requirements for any Burnt Offerings.

Clean animals, male without blemish, offering of the livestock—of the herd and of the flock, Bull, Sheep or goats, birds, turtledoves or young pigeons.  

Leviticus 1:3 'If his offering is a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish; he shall offer it of his own free will at the door of the tabernacle of meeting before the LORD.

Leviticus 1:4 Then he {person} shall put his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted on his behalf to make atonement for him.

Leviticus 1:5 He {person} shall kill the bull before the LORD; and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall bring the blood and sprinkle the blood all around on the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of meeting.

Leviticus 1:6 And he {Priest} shall skin the burnt offering and cut it into its pieces.

Leviticus 1:7 The sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire on the altar, and lay the wood in order on the fire.

Leviticus 1:8 Then the priests, Aaron's sons, shall lay the parts, the head, and the fat in order on the wood that is on the fire upon the altar;

Leviticus 1:9 but he shall wash its entrails and its legs with water. And the priest shall burn all on the altar as a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, a sweet aroma to the LORD.

Remember, we have to look at all verses what happens to the sacrifice

Deuteronomy 18:3 "And this shall be the priest's due from the people, from those who offer a sacrifice, whether it is bull or sheep: they shall give to the priest the shoulder, the cheeks, and the stomach.

Leviticus 9:2 And he said to Aaron, "Take for yourself a young bull as a sin offering and a ram as a burnt offering, without blemish, and offer them before the LORD.   {found 32 times – young bull}

The sinner would bring his offering to the entrance of the tabernacle where he would be met by a priest. The sinner himself would slay the animal.  (There is an exception in vv.14, 15 - birds).

Leviticus 7:8 And the priest who offers anyone's burnt offering, that priest shall have for himself the skin of the burnt offering which he has offered.

Leviticus 6:8-13 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, (9) "Command Aaron and his sons, saying, 'This is the law of the burnt offering: The burnt offering shall be on the hearth upon the altar all night until morning, and the fire of the altar shall be kept burning on it. (10) And the priest shall put on his linen garment, and his linen trousers he shall put on his body, and take up the ashes of the burnt offering which the fire has consumed on the altar, and he shall put them beside the altar. (11) Then he shall take off his garments, put on other garments, and carry the ashes outside the camp to a clean place. 

(12) And the fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not be put out. And the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order on it; and he shall burn on it the fat of the peace offerings. (13) A fire shall always be burning on the altar; it shall never go out.

Laws for Grain {Meal} Offerings  {Lev 2:1-16, Lev 6:14-23}

Leviticus 2:1 'When anyone offers a grain offering to the LORD, his offering shall be of fine flour. And he shall pour oil on it, and put frankincense on it.

Leviticus 2:2 He shall bring it to Aaron's sons, the priests, one of whom shall take from it his handful of fine flour and oil with all the frankincense. And the priest shall burn it as a memorial on the altar, an offering made by fire, a sweet aroma to the LORD.

Leviticus 2:3 The rest of the grain offering shall be Aaron's and his sons'. It is most holy of the offerings to the LORD made by fire.

Leviticus 2:11 'No grain offering which you bring to the LORD shall be made with leaven, for you shall burn no leaven nor any honey in any offering to the LORD made by fire.

**Leviticus 2:4-16 Just repeats above

**Leviticus 6:14-23 Just repeats above

Grain offering was an offering of fine flour or unleavened baked goods, mixed with oil and frankincense. A handful of the offering was burned (with incense) in the altar fire. The rest went to the priests.

The meal offering was presented along with animal sacrifice. It represents the owners personal property, his body and his possessions.

The meal offering was presented daily, along with the morning and evening sacrifice.

The Peace Offering {Lev 3:1-, Lev 7:11-35}

Leviticus 3:1 'When his offering is a sacrifice of a peace offering, if he offers it of the herd, whether male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the LORD.

Leviticus 3:2 And he {offeror} shall lay his hand on the head of his offering, and kill it at the door of the tabernacle of meeting; and Aaron's sons, the priests, shall sprinkle the blood all around on the altar.

Leviticus 3:3 Then he {priests} shall offer from the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire to the LORD. The fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails,

Leviticus 3:4 the two kidneys and the fat that is on them by the flanks, and the fatty lobe attached to the liver above the kidneys, he shall remove;

Leviticus 3:5 and Aaron's sons shall burn it on the altar upon the burnt sacrifice, which is on the wood that is on the fire, as an offering made by fire, a sweet aroma to the LORD.

Leviticus 3:17 'This shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations in all your dwellings: you shall eat neither fat nor blood.' "

**Leviticus 3:6-16 Just basically repeats above

Leviticus 7:31-32 And the priest shall burn the fat on the altar, but the breast shall be Aaron's and his sons'. (32) Also the right thigh you shall give to the priest as a heave offering from the sacrifices of your peace offerings.

Leviticus 7:35 This is the consecrated portion for Aaron and his sons, from the offerings made by fire to the LORD, on the day when Moses presented them to minister to the LORD as priests.

**Leviticus 7:11-35 Just basically repeats above

Most of the animal was eaten, divided between the priests and the owner.

Sin / purification offering  {Lev 4:1-35; 5:1-13, Lev 6:24-30}

Leviticus 4:2 "Speak to the children of Israel, saying: 'If a person sins unintentionally against any of the commandments of the LORD in anything which ought not to be done, and does any of them,

**Leviticus 4:3-10 When a priest sins: covers what he has to do

Leviticus 4:11-12 But the bull's hide and all its flesh, with its head and legs, its entrails and offal-- (12) the whole bull he shall carry outside the camp to a clean place, where the ashes are poured out, and burn it on wood with fire; where the ashes are poured out it shall be burned.

Different sacrifices requirement for different people

**Leviticus 4:13 – when congregation has sinned
**Leviticus 4:22 – when a ruler has sinned
**Leviticus 4:27 – when a common person has sinned
**Leviticus 5:1-13 persons by oath, unclean, swears, requires an offering

**Leviticus  4:1-35; 5:1-13; Just basically repeats above

**Leviticus 6:24-30; Just basically repeats above

Leviticus 6:26 The priest who offers it for sin shall eat it. In a holy place it shall be eaten, in the court of the tabernacle of meeting.  {exception}

Guilt or Trespass Offerings  {Lev 5:14-19; 6:1-7, Lev 7:1-10}

Leviticus 5:14,15 "If a person commits a trespass, and sins unintentionally in regard to the holy things of the LORD, then he shall bring to the LORD as his trespass offering a ram without blemish from the flocks, with your valuation in shekels of silver according to the shekel of the sanctuary, as a trespass offering {guilt offering}.

Leviticus 5:16 And he shall make restitution for the harm that he has done in regard to the holy thing, and shall add one-fifth to it and give it to the priest. So the priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering, and it shall be forgiven him.

**Leviticus 5:17,18 Just basically repeats above

Leviticus 5:19 It is a trespass offering; he has certainly trespassed against the LORD."

**Leviticus 6:1-7 Just basically repeats above

Leviticus 7:1-2 'Likewise this is the law of the trespass offering (it is most holy): (2) In the place where they kill the burnt offering they shall kill the trespass offering. And its blood he shall sprinkle all around on the altar.

Leviticus 7:3-4 And he shall offer from it all its fat. The fat tail and the fat that covers the entrails, (4) the two kidneys and the fat that is on them by the flanks, and the fatty lobe attached to the liver above the kidneys, he shall remove;

Leviticus 7:5 and the priest shall burn them on the altar as an offering made by fire to the LORD. It is a trespass offering.

**Leviticus 7:6-10 repeat, the priest who sacrifice shall, eat it,  have it, the skin, grain offering,

Ezra 10:19 And they gave their promise that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they presented a ram of the flock as their trespass offering.

Here sin is looked at as a trespass against the government of God. Amends had to be made for the wrong done and the fifth part added to it.

What about family members eating of the sacrifice.

Numbers 18:11 "This also is yours: the heave offering of their gift, with all the wave offerings of the children of Israel; I have given them to you, and your sons and daughters with you, as an ordinance forever. Everyone who is clean in your house may eat it.

Numbers 18:31 You may eat it in any place, you and your households, for it is your reward for your work in the tabernacle of meeting.

The Drink Offering  {Num 15:1-11}

The drink offering was added later after entering the land of Canaan. Not offered by itself alone. It was “strong wine poured unto the Lord” (Num 28:7). 

The Drink offering is oil and wine.  Oil typifies the Holy Spirit, and the wine means communion.  Begin and end each day with the oil and wine (the Spirit and fellowship with Him).  Added to the other sacrifices.

Numbers 15:1-2 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, (2) "Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: 'When you have come into the land you are to inhabit, which I am giving to you,

Numbers 15:3 and you make an offering by fire to the LORD, a burnt offering or a sacrifice, to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering or in your appointed feasts, to make a sweet aroma to the LORD, from the herd or the flock,

Numbers 15:4 then he who presents his offering to the LORD shall bring a grain offering of one-tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with one-fourth of a hin of oil;

Numbers 15:5 and one-fourth of a hin of wine as a drink offering {this is new} you shall prepare with the burnt offering or the sacrifice, for each lamb.

Leviticus 5:6-9 Just basically repeats above

Numbers 15:10 and you shall bring as the drink offering half a hin of wine as an offering made by fire, a sweet aroma to the LORD.

Numbers 15:11 'Thus it shall be done for each young bull, for each ram, or for each lamb or young goat.

** "The drink offering is to be one fourth of a hin for each lamb. You are to pour out a drink offering of strong wine to the LORD in the Holy Place.  Numbers 28:7

The first recorded occurrence of a Drink Offering was Jacob, right after God changed his name to Israel, this was before the giving of the law, law of sacrifices and Burnt Offering.

Genesis 35:14 So Jacob set up a pillar in the place where He talked with him, a pillar of stone; and he poured a drink offering on it, and he poured oil on it.

In New Testament, We do know that the pouring out of a drink offering is a metaphor for the blood Jesus spilled on the cross.  

** In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you. Luke 22:20

** But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. John 19:34

We notice Paul took this metaphor further, to describe his own service

** Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. Philippians 2:17

Whole Burnt Offering listed 24 times – ISV version; 2 times – NKJV, 1 time – NIV

Lev_6:25  "Speak to Aaron and his sons. This is the regulation concerning sin offerings. Slaughter the sin offering in the same place where the whole burnt offering is slaughtered—in the LORD's presence. It's a most holy thing.

Lev_8:18  Next he brought the ram for whole burnt offering. Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram.

Lev_8:21  Moses washed the internal organs and the thigh with water and then burned the entire ram on the altar as a whole burnt offering, a pleasing aroma of an offering made by fire to the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.

Lev_8:28  After this, Moses took those things from their hands and burned them on the altar over the whole burnt offering for consecration. They served as a pleasing aroma, an offering made by fire to the LORD.

Lev_9:2  He told Aaron, "Take a young calf for a sin offering and a ram without defects for a whole burnt offering and bring them into the LORD's presence."

Lev_9:3  He also told the Israelis, "Bring a male goat for a sin offering, a calf, a year old lamb without defects for a whole burnt offering,

Lev_9:14  He washed the internal organs and the thighs and incinerated them on the altar, along with the whole burnt offering.

Lev_9:16  Then he brought the whole burnt offering and offered it according to procedure.

Lev_12:6  "When the days of her purification have been completed, whether for her son or daughter, she is to bring to the priest at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting a one year old lamb for a whole burnt offering or a young dove for a sin offering.

Lev_14:19  This is how the priest is to present the sin offering to make atonement for the person being cleansed of his impurity. After this, he is to slaughter the whole burnt offering.

Lev_14:22  and two turtledoves or two young pigeons, whichever he can afford. One is for a sin offering and the other is for a whole burnt offering.

Lev_14:31  Based on what he can afford, one is for a sin offering and the other for a whole burnt offering. Along with the grain offering, the priest is to make atonement for the person to be cleansed in the LORD's presence.

Lev_15:15  Then the priest is to offer them, one for a sin offering and the other for a whole burnt offering. That's how the priest will make atonement for him in the LORD's presence regarding his discharge.

Lev_15:30  Then the priest is to offer one for a sin offering and the other for a whole burnt offering. This is how the priest will make atonement in the LORD's presence for her regarding her unclean discharge.

Lev_16:3  "Aaron is to enter the sacred place with a young bull for a sin offering and a ram for a whole burnt offering.

Lev_16:5  "He is to take two male goats for a sin offering and one ram for a whole burnt offering from the assembly of the Israelis.

Lev_16:24  He is to wash his body with water at the sacred place and put on his clothes. Then he is to go out, offer a whole burnt offering for himself and a whole burnt offering for the people, thereby making atonement on account of himself and on account of the people.

Lev_17:8  "Tell them that if a person from the house of Israel or a resident alien who lives among you brings a whole burnt offering or a sacrifice
