Enoch’s Prophecy

Enoch’s Prophecy                                        June 27, 2015

Jude is the only book of the Bible is all about apostasy and we are going to take a snap shot of two verses out of it.

Who was Jude:

Jude 1:1 Jude, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, To those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ:

Jude could say so much in such few words.  These verses in Jude are so pregnant with so much information requires us to understand the Whole Word of God, they only had the Old Testament at that time.

I believe if we read these verses superficially, we would miss so much.

Jude 1:14-15 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints,  (15)  to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him."

What was your first impression when you read these two verses.

No right or wrong answer.

The oldest prophecy in the Bible is attributed to Enoch and it was concerning the second Coming of Christ.

Who is or was Enoch.  He was a prophet.  Very little is written about Enoch and what he did.

1 Chronicles 1:1-4 Adam, Seth, Enosh,  (2)  Cainan, Mahalalel, Jared,  (3)  Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, Noah.  Seventh Generation

Prophecy Before the Flood

If it were not for Jude, we would know practically nothing about prophecy

before the flood.  We know of cities, cattle, fine arts, education, and manufacturing mention in the Scriptures. But nothing about prophecy.

Jewish traditions have Enoch born on Feast of Weeks or Pentecost and were translated or removed prior to the judgment of the flood on Pentecost.  What does it mean, I do not know.  As we know, the Church or Body was born on Pentecost.

Enoch walked with God “by Faith” Ministers today said he did not die but was taken to heaven by God.

Genesis 5:18-21 Jared lived one hundred and sixty-two years, and begot Enoch.  (19)  After he begot Enoch, Jared lived eight hundred years, and had sons and daughters.

vs. (21)  Enoch lived sixty-five years, and begot Methuselah.

Hebrew 11:5  By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, "AND WAS NOT FOUND, BECAUSE GOD HAD TAKEN HIM"; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

This was not a casual stroll, walk for 300 years later.

Gen 5:22-24 After he begot Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years, and had sons and daughters.  (23)  So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years.  (24)  And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.

To walk with someone, we have to have Agreement with them.

Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?

This privilege is available to us, today!

Colossians 2:6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,

Galatians 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Enoch’s earliest prophecy

Enoch was only prophet whose words are preserved, before the flood.

God took Him: This is from our Western Bible translation today. lâqach  law-kakh'   Means carry away, drawn, fetch, get, take away.

The third-century B.C. translators who produced the Greek Septuagint rendered the phrase "God took him" with the Greek verb metatithemi (μετατίθημι)[6] meaning moving from one place to another.

Interesting, as we learned before, the quotes from the Old Testament in the New Testament is from the Septuagint.

Josephus wrote “And indeed, as to Elijah, and as to Enoch, who was before the deluge, it is written in the sacred books that they disappeared, but so that nobody knew that they died.

Only Enoch and Elijah ever had this experience.

2 Kings 2:11-12 Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.  (12)  And Elisha saw it, and he cried out, "My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!" So he saw him no more. And he took hold of his own clothes and tore them into two pieces.  Interesting

2 Chronicles 21:12 And a letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus says the LORD God of your father David: Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, or in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

Elijah taken away during the reign of Jehoshaphat before Jehoram succeeded to the throne.

Enoch was taken away about midway between Adam and Abraham.

Elijah, midway between Abraham and Christ

What does it mean, I do not know. But it is interesting

Enoch’s prophecy is of Christ’s Second Coming, given before the Flood of Noah.

According to this prophecy, the Second Coming appears to focus on the widespread ungodliness.

Four Basic Facts from Enoch’s Prophecy

1. We Know the Lord’s Coming is Sure:

1.     "Behold, the Lord comes

2. We Know Who Will Accompany the Lord

        2.     with ten thousands of His saints,

3. We Know the Result of the Lord’s Coming

        3.     to execute judgment on all,

4. We Know the Purpose of His Coming

4.     a.     to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their

ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way,

b.     and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him."

What do we mean by “ungodly”  Strong Greek word # G765, asebes impious (not showing respect or reverence for God) wicked - ungodly (man).

1. We Know the Lord’s Coming is Sure

1.     "Behold, the Lord comes

We have the assurance of past tense, because it is expressed in past tense

Revelation 19:11-14 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in Righteousness He judges and makes war.

(12)  His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself.  (13)  He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.  (14)  And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.

Micah 1:2-4 NKJV  Hear, all you peoples! Listen, O earth, and all that is in it! Let the Lord GOD be a witness against you, The Lord from His holy temple.  (3)  For behold, the LORD is coming out of His place; He will come down And tread on the high places of the earth.  (4)  The mountains will melt under Him, And the valleys will split Like wax before the fire, Like waters poured down a steep place.

Isaiah 26:21 NKJV  For behold, the LORD comes out of His place To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; The earth will also disclose her blood, And will no more cover her slain.

Isaiah 66:15-16 NKJV  For behold, the LORD will come with fire And with His chariots, like a whirlwind, To render His anger with fury, And His rebuke with flames of fire.  (16)  For by fire and by His sword The LORD will judge all flesh; And the slain of the LORD shall be many.

Judge means: pronounce sentence (for or against)

Written as history, but written in advance

Like history, nothing can change it.

These prophecies are written the same way not requiring anything

He is “able to subdue all things to Himself”

Philippians 3:20-21 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,  (21)  who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.

2. We Know Who Will Accompany the Lord

Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints.

Zechariah 14:5 Then you shall flee through My mountain valley, For the mountain valley shall reach to Azal. Yes, you shall flee As you fled from the earthquake In the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Thus the LORD my God will come, And all the saints with You.

Revelation 19:14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.

Daniel 7:10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him. A thousand thousands ministered to Him; Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was seated, And the books were opened.

Christ’s return:  “All the holy angels”

Matthew 25:31 "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.

Believers also

1 Corinthians 1:2  To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

Colossians 3:4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

1Thessalonians 3:13 so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.

We shall judge angels

1 Corinthians 6:2-3 Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?  (3)  Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?

3. We Know the Result of the Lord’s Coming

To execute judgment on all,

All the ungodly will be convicted in all their works of ungodliness

Books are open according to their works

Revelation 20:11-15 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them.  (12)  And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.  (13)  The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.  (14)  Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.  (15)  And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Heaven and earth reserved unto fire

2 Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

God looks at the heart

1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

Who will be the judge?  Jesus the Messiah

John 5:22 For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son,

Who will be judge? All individuals

Jesus cometh to judge the earth

Psalms 96:13 For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with righteousness, And the peoples with His truth.

Jesus will judge all nations

Joel 3:12 "Let the nations be wakened, and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; for there I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations.

Matthew 25:32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.

Nations:  Greek “ethnos” eth'-nos  a tribe; specifically a foreign (non-Jewish) one (usually by implication pagan): - Gentile, heathen, nation, people.

Jesus will judge their cities

Mathew 11:22 But I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the Day of Judgment than for you.

Matthew 12:41 the men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here.

Jesus will judge every man, living or dead

2 Timothy 4:1 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:

2 Timothy 1:7-9 and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels,  (8)  in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.  (9)  These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

Jesus will judge fallen angels

Jude 1:6 And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day;

Isaiah 24:21 It shall come to pass in that day That the LORD will punish on high the host of exalted ones, And on the earth the kings of the earth.

Jesus will judge demons

Matthew 8:28-29 When He had come to the other side, to the country of the Gergesenes, there met Him two demon-possessed men, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one could pass that way.  (29)  And suddenly they cried out, saying, "What have we to do with You, Jesus, You Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?"

What are the judgments that Jesus will use?

According to:        truth      deeds     gospel

Romans 2:2 But we know that the judgment (decision) of God is according to truth against those who practice such things.

Romans 2:6 who "will render to each one according to his deeds":

Romans 2:16 in the day when God will judge (decide) the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

1 Timothy 4:1-2 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,  (2)  speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,

Their minds became so corrupted, their conscience so defiled, their character so set, their heart, mind, and spirit so evil, that repentance would be impossible.

All the ungodly will be convicted of all their works of ungodliness

Matthew 25:45-46 Then He will answer them, saying, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.'  (46)  And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

Jesus opens books

Jesus has the heavens and earth reserved unto fire

2 Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Jesus looks at the heart

1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken  against Him .

..every idle word which men shall speak.

Matthew 12:36-37 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.  (37)  For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."

Who will be judged?

4. We Know the Purpose of His Coming

        a.     to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their

ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way,

b.     and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him."

Remember, This prophecy came through Enoch, who was before Noah and the flood.

1.  to convict all who are ungodly

Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,  (20)  idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,  (21)  envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

2. all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him

Every idle word which men shall speak

Matthew 12:36-37 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.  (37)  For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."

Jesus is coming quickly:

Revelation 22:20 He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming quickly." Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

Jesus will come to bring judgment (krisis)

Hebrews 9:26-28 He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.  (27)  And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,  (28)  so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

Greek word for Judgment:  krisis:  means judgment, justice, accusation, condemnation, damnation, judgment.  “krisis” of Sodom

FYI:  Charlene pointed out to me, krisis, remove the first two letters, kr, what do we have left, ISIS.  Interesting

Luke 10:14 But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you.

Hebrews 10:26-27 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,  (27)  but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.

Greek word judgment:  krisis:

The day of krisis ... We are talking about ungodly men

2 Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Use of the word krisis is judgment of the unsaved or ungodly person

No believer will ever come into krisis – Comforting

John 5:24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

Greek word for Judgment:  krisis:  Remember it means judgment, justice, accusation, condemnation, damnation, judgment.

But there is a different word for judgment that is used for Christians:

bema seat, the Believer’s Rewards

Romans 14:10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

bēma  bay'-ma From the base of G939; a step, that is, foot breath; by implication a rostrum, that is, tribunal: - judgment-seat, set [foot] on, throne.

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

1 Co 3:11-15 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.  (12)  Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,  (13)  each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is.  (14)  If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward.  (15)  If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

The issue here is rewards, not salvation:  gold, silver, is the right foundation, while wood, hay, burned up and suffers loss, but still saved.

Let’s take a short side trip

Revelation 21:4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."

Could the tears be part of when we realize our reward could have been so much more because of all the times we wasted on wood, hay, etc?

Colossians 3:23-25 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,  (24)  knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.  (25)  But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.

The bema seat is where the judge sat to pass out the rewards at the end of the race.  The Bema Seat of Christ is where the Christians get their rewards for services, not to be confused with the Great White Throne Judgment which comes at the end of the Millennium.

Revelation 20:13  The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.

Herod built a structure resembling a throne at Caesarea from which he viewed the games and made speeches to the people.  It is just a raised place, mounted by steps, a platform, and the official seat of a judge.

This is a different kind of judgment for the Believers.

The believer's judgment has 3 parts to it.

1.     At Jesus death we were judged as a SINNER with Jesus taking my place and bearing our punishment.

2.     Today we are judged as a SON, being corrected by our my heavenly Father when we are disobedient.

Hebrews 12:4-8 You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin.  (5)  And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: "My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by him;  (6)  For whom the LORD Loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives."  (7)  If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten?  (8)  But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.

1 Corinthians 11:31-32 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged.  (32)  But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.

3.     At the Judgment Seat of Christ, we will be judged as a SERVANT, giving full account to our Master for our Christian service.

These scriptures are referring to Christians, not unbelievers. The judgment seat of Christ, therefore, involves believers giving an account of their lives to Christ.

Ephesians 2:8-9  For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,  (9)  not of works, lest anyone should boast.

The judgment seat of Christ does not determine salvation; that was determined by Christ’s sacrifice on our behalf and our faith in Him.

Book of Remembrance – why I like discussion service

Malachi 3:16-18 Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, And the LORD listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him For those who fear the LORD And who meditate on His name.

(17)  "They shall be Mine," says the LORD of hosts, "On the day that I make them My jewels.  And I will spare them As a man spares his own son who serves him."  (18)  Then you shall again discern Between the righteous and the wicked, Between one who serves God And one who does not serve Him.

Some very encouraging words of Jesus about every true believer

Philippians 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; personally said:

John 10:26-28 But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you.  (27)  My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.  (28)  And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.

Jesus has us in His hands.

John 10:29-30 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand.  (30)  I and My Father are one."

We are also in the Father hands.  Since we are in Jesus and the Fathers hands, No One can take us out of their hands.

Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,  (39)  nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Hebrews 10:14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

Psalms 138:8 The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.

Paul had no doubt as to the final outcome of every true believer.  God finishes what He starts. Has God started a good work in us?

If so, He has saved us for a purpose. And He’s not finished with any of us yet.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

This is what we have to look forward to in the Kingdom of God under our Lord and Creator, Jesus.

Revelation 1:5-6 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,  (6)  and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Revelation 5:9-10 And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,  (10)  And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth."

One final thing: all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him

Jonathan Cahn, author of the Harbinger, said:

The arguments over the dispute even generated a warning directly to the justices.

‘There is another court’

“That the event should even take place is a sign this is America of [George] Washington’s warning … a nation at war against its own foundation,” he said.
Washington warned the smiles of heaven can never be expected on a nation “that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which heaven itself hath ordained.”
Cahn noted the Supreme Court opens sessions with the words, “God save the United States and this honorable court.”
“If this court should overrule the word of God and strike down the eternal rules of order and right that heaven itself ordained, how then will God save it?” he asked. “Justices, can you judge the ways of God? There is another court and there another judge, where all men and all judges will give account.
“If a nation’s high court should pass judgment on the Almighty, should you then be surprised God will pass judgment on the court and that nation? We are doing that which Israel did on the altars of Baal,” he said.
“We are exchanging our light for darkness.”
