Learned learned: 2 Co 2:11

Learned learned

I found that 2 Co 2:11 “lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.”  We know some of Satan devices to take advantage of us.  Some of those were Deceit, deception, deviation from truth, unforgiveness, self-vindication, self-focus of any kind, prejudice, emotions, confusion and I like to add to the list, works of the flesh  which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,  idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,   envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries.  Yes, we have told many times what Satan devices are.

What made me wonder about the verse, where it said “lest Satan should take advantage of us.”  After a person is put out of the body by the church, they have a true repentances for what they did.  If they are not brought back into the fellowship, then the person will feel their problem would be hopeless.   It is twofold problem, drive the individual to despair and against the church for not bringing the person back into the body, this will bring a evil report on the Name of our Lord Jesus to outsiders.  Satan does not care if the sinner is left inside the church or have the Body keep them outside if repented, this way Satan wins each way.  Satan wants to divide the church.  We know Satan walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, and making a division of the church is one way.

Devices:  From G3539; a perception, that is, purpose, or (by implication) the intellect, disposition, itself: - device, mind, thought.

2Co 2:11 NKJV  lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

Eph 6:12 NKJV  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

1Pe 5:8 NKJV  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Gal 5:19-21 NKJV  Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,  (20)  idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,  (21)  envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
