Feast of Unleavened Bread, 1st Day – Jesus, the Firstborn April 09, 2020
Welcome to the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.
The Spring Holy Days depict the beginning of God’s plan for salvation for each of us. We just finish up the service for the Passover and, last night, the Night to be Much Observed,
Exodus 12:42 This night was selected by the Lord to bring his people out from the land of Egypt {sin}; so the same night was selected as the date of the annual celebration of God’s deliverance. {our salvation}
We are going to look into one aspect of the First Day of Unleavened Bread. Firstborn.
Concerning the Feasts of the Lord, we are told:
2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
Psalms 145:15 The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food {or meat} at the proper time {due season}.
Let’s go where it talks about the spring feasts;
Leviticus 23:4-7 These are the LORD's appointed feasts, sacred assemblies that you are to declare at their appointed time. (5) "The LORD's Passover is to begin on the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight.
(6) "On the fifteenth day of that month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the LORD. For seven days you are to eat unleavened bread. (7) On the first day that you hold the sacred assembly you are to do no servile work.
That is why we are here today, holding a sacred assembly.
What about this day, Unleavened Bread.
Exodus 12:15, 16 For seven days you are to eat bread made without yeast. On the first day remove the yeast from your houses, for whoever eats anything with yeast in it from the first day through the seventh must be cut off from Israel. (16) On the first day there shall be a holy convocation, and on the seventh day there shall be a holy convocation for you. No manner of work shall be done on them; but that which everyone must eat—that only may be prepared by you.
Notice, it says, first day to remove the yeast
Exodus 12:19-20 For seven days no leaven shall be found in your houses, since whoever eats what is leavened, that same person shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he is a stranger or a native of the land. (20) You shall eat nothing leavened; in all your dwellings you shall eat unleavened bread.' "
We are to eat, unleavened bread each day during the feast.
Paul used the symbols of this Feast to give correction to the Corinthian Church, about 20 years after the resurrection.
1 Corinthians 5:6-8 Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough? (7) Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed.
(8) Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

Paul knew the Corinthian Church was observing the
Feast of Unleavened Bread to remove leaven from their homes and
·
To encourage them to celebrate this feast with
proper understanding of its spiritual intent.

Luke
wrote this more than 20 years after Jesus had been crucified and
resurrected.
·
That Paul
was observing the Feast of Unleavened Bread with Gentiles in the city of
Corinth.
·
This
shows the church understood what was meant by unleavened and how to observed
it.
Acts 20:6 But we sailed away from Philippi after the Days of Unleavened Bread, and in five days joined them at Troas, where we stayed seven days.
When we remove leaven from our homes for seven days, it reminds us that we, too, through prayer and God’s help and understanding, must recognize, expel and avoid sin in our lives.
Question always come up. How can we say where we are meeting today, is the chosen place for us to meet.
Matthew 18:20 because where two or three have come together in my name, I am there among them."
Question is always, how do we know this is the place we should meet, each Sabbath and all Feast Days where Jesus sets His name.

Because we meet in His name,

Jesus has chosen to be here with us, among us
·
so this is the place where Jesus sets His
name.
Remember we are the Temple of God; individually we have the Holy Spirit living in us.
1 Corinthians 3:16 (16) Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
Let’s look at the Firstborn.
A firstborn (also known as an eldest child or sometimes firstling or first) is the first child born, in the birth order of childbirth
Jesus is the Firstborn, and then we will follow after Jesus in the future
What does the Lord say concerning the Firstborn.
Numbers 3:11-13 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: (12) "Now behold, I Myself have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of every firstborn who opens the womb among the children of Israel. Therefore the Levites shall be Mine, (13) because all the firstborn are Mine. On the day that I struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I sanctified to Myself all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast. They shall be Mine: I am the LORD."
· We see that the Lord says Firstborn belongs
to God
· This firstborn does apply to the church today.
· We will be the Firstborn of the Body in the future at Jesus return.
Exodus 13:1-2 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, (2) "Consecrate to Me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and beast; it is Mine."
As a side, let’s stop and think about how terrible the crime that abortion is, because most of those who are aborted are, probably firstborn.
Exodus 13:12-13 that you shall set apart to the LORD all that open the womb, that is, every firstborn that comes from an animal which you have; the males shall be the LORD's. (13) But every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. And all the firstborn of man among your sons you shall redeem.
We know that Abraham was a firstborn.
Genesis 11:26 Now Terah lived seventy years, and begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
We know firstborn has special things given to them which includes the right of inheritance and blessing.
Remember, we covered about the sacrifice for redemption for the firstborn child that the mother has to do. Not the father, but the mother.
Jesus is the Firstborn of God, through the virgin Mary.
Matthew 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.
This is why Jesus can call the Father, Father, because He is Jesus father.
Because the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, as we have seen beginning with the Passover and the Night Much to be Remembered, is a celebration or a great feast unto God for redeeming and delivering the firstborn who are dedicated to God.
Now we need to think of that in relationship to our lives. And we need to think of that in relationship to the way that God has called us.
Paul tells us that Jesus died, was buried and rose from the dead. The First born.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, (4) and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,
God said about Lord, Jesus, Jesus was dead, brought to life as the Firstborn, the first of many in the future.
Psalms 89:27 Also I will make him My firstborn, The highest of the kings of the earth.
Romans 8:29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Hebrews
1:6 And again, when he
brings his
firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him."
Hebrews 12:23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect,
Colossians 1:15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
Colossians 1:18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.
Revelation 1:5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
We are as those of “the church of the firstborn” and Registered in Heaven
1 Corinthians 15:20-23 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. (21) For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. (22) For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. (23) But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming.
So this puts us in a status with God that is very important and really has profound meaning for us in our understanding and relationship with God.
Romans 8:23 However, not only the creation, but we who have the first fruits of the Spirit also groan inwardly as we eagerly await our adoption, the redemption of our bodies.
Revelation 1:5-6 and from Jesus the Messiah, the witness, the faithful one, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To the one who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood (6) and has made us a kingdom, priests for his God and Father, be glory and power forever and ever! Amen.
Revelation 14:4 They have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins, and they follow the lamb wherever he goes. They have been redeemed from among humanity as the first fruits for God and the lamb.

The Feast of Unleavened Bread and God’s Spirit
in us, we can see sin in our lives. We know what sin is and we repent of it.

This is God working in our life so we don’t
practice sin.
·
Now notice it doesn’t say: we do not sin.
·
It says we cannot sin, because he has been born
of God.
1 John 3:9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. {Receive the Holy Spirit – a new creation}
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
We become a brand new person inside. We are not the same anymore. A new life has begun!
1 Peter 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, (4) to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
And that living hope is through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead because He is the firstborn from among many brethren, and we are the church of the firstborn
And this is one of the meaning of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.
We are the church of the firstborn.
Have a good Feast of Unleavened Bread, brethren.
As we eat unleavened Bread during the Feast, take these things and think about our lives, our families, friends and mediate about what it means.
Ask God to give us the wisdom with His Holy Spirit to grow, to change, to overcome, so we can become more Christ-like in the way we live.
Enjoy ourselves during the Feast of Unleavened Bread because of the Truths that the Holy Spirit lead us in.
