Abraham Unconditional Covenant, Pt 3 www.seachord.org

Abraham Unconditional Covenant, Pt 3                 July 11, 2020

We have a nation today in the Middle East at Jerusalem called Israel.  We have the terms House of Israel and House of Judah, are they the same or different.  How is the term Jerusalem used?

All 13 tribes took on the name of Israel (their fathers name) when they left Egypt.  Israel was a combined Nation until rebellion happen.

Remember, Jacob (names Israel) gave the blessing and inheritance to Joseph two sons and the name of Israel was given to them.

1 Kings 11:9-13 So the LORD became angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned from the LORD God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice,  (10)  and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods; but he did not keep what the LORD had commanded.

(11)  Therefore the LORD said to Solomon, "Because you have done this, and have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom away from you and give it to your servant.  (12)  Nevertheless I will not do it in your days, for the sake of your father David; I will tear it out of the hand of your son.

(13)  However I will not tear away the whole kingdom; I will give one tribe to your son for the sake of my servant David, and for the sake of Jerusalem which I have chosen."  {kept 2 tribes from David}

The Lord God said he was going to take the tribes away from Solomon because they worship false gods and did not keep my statutes and my judgments as did David his father.
They formed into two distinct Nations, one in the south where Jerusalem was and they called themselves “House of Judah”, the Jewish people and the one in the north, they called themselves “House of Israel”.  Each Nation went by Judah and Israel.

The Northern Kingdom of Israel was also known as the House of Israel or Ephraim.

The Southern Kingdom of Judah was also known as Jerusalem or Jews in the Scriptures.

Both Israel and Judah together, depends on how these terms are used in Scriptures.

The United Kingdom lasted the length of the reigns of Saul, David, and Solomon.

After the death of Saul and his sons at the hand of the Philistines, David was anointed king, first over Judah and then later over all Israel.

David’s son, Solomon, was the last of the kings of the united kingdom and the division of the kingdom, then later with Rehoboam and Jeroboam.

We find the prophet Ahijah grabbed the new cloak that he was wearing and tore it into twelve pieces! Then he told Jeroboam,

1 Kings 11:29-32 Now it happened at that time, when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite met him on the way; and he had clothed himself with a new garment, and the two were alone in the field.

(30)  Then Ahijah took hold of the new garment that was on him, and tore it into twelve pieces.  (31)  And he said to Jeroboam, "Take for yourself ten pieces, for thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: 'Behold, I will tear the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon and will give ten tribes to you
(32)  (but he shall have one tribe for the sake of My servant David, and for the sake of Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel),

At the separation of the Nation of Israel, 10 tribes went north to become the House of Israel and 2 tribes (Judah and Benjamin) went south to become the House of Judah.

Judah retained the City of Jerusalem, its capital, and the territory known as Judea. Israel occupied the territory north of Judea, known as Samaria.

Samaria became its capital city, and the House of Israel often is called "Samaria" in prophecy. This, too, is a vital "key" to understanding of prophecy. "Samaria" never refers to the Jews in prophecy-but always the Ten tribes, the House of Israel.

Jeroboam was afraid the people would go to Jerusalem for the feast, so he invented a feast one month later. Northern Tribe worship the Calf.

1 Kings 12:28-32 Therefore the king asked advice, made two calves of gold, and said to the people, "It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Here are your gods, O Israel, which brought you up from the land of Egypt!"  (29)  And he set up one in Bethel, and the other he put in Dan.  {far north}

(30)  Now this thing became a sin, for the people went to worship before the one as far as Dan.  (31)  He made shrines on the high places, and made priests from every class of people, who were not of the sons of Levi.  (32)  Jeroboam ordained a feast on the fifteenth day of the eighth month, like the feast that was in Judah, and offered sacrifices on the altar. So he did at Bethel, sacrificing to the calves that he had made. And at Bethel he installed the priests of the high places which he had made.

Northern Kingdom stops worshiping the Lord God

Many individuals from the Northern Kingdom moved to the Southern Kingdom because of not worshipping the Lord God in the first few years.
People moved where they feel comfortable for worship and safety.
FYI: Look at New York, people are moving out in great numbers.

2 Chronicles 15:9 Then he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and those who dwelt with them from Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon, for they came over to him in great numbers from Israel when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.

God said He has reserved 7000 in Israel for Himself.  He has also blinded Israel until the Times of the Gentiles is complete.  {they did not south}

1 Kings 19:18 Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him."

Romans 11:1-8 I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.  (2)  God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel, saying,  (3)  "Lord, they have killed your Prophets and torn you’re your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life.

(4)  But what does the divine response say to him? "I HAVE RESERVED FOR MYSELF SEVEN THOUSAND MEN WHO HAVE NOT BOWED THE KNEE TO BAAL."  (5)  Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace.  (6)  And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.

(7)  What then? Israel has not obtained what it seeks; but the elect have obtained it, and the rest were blinded.  (8)  Just as it is written: "GOD HAS GIVEN THEM A SPIRIT OF STUPOR, EYES THAT THEY SHOULD NOT SEE AND EARS THAT THEY SHOULD NOT HEAR, TO THIS VERY DAY."   {this was given to the Nation of Israel – blindness to who they are}

The northern Kingdom lasted a little over 200 years from 930 B.C. to around 722 B.C. before the Assyrians took the Northern Kingdom or the House of Israel into captivity when the leadership was removed from the land.

The House of Israel in the north was defeated (around 721 BC) and was taken into captivity and most of the people of Israel moved out of the northern area. They were carried captives to Assyria, on the southern shores of the Caspian Sea!

2 Kings 17:18 Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.

The southern tribe, Judah was also taken into captivity Babylon for a period of time and God brought them back to the land they had before captivity.

The House of Judah (Jews) was defeated and the people were spread throughout all people in the world.  They kept their identity by worshiping the true God.   {Israel did not kept their identity}

If the future, when Jesus returns and sets up His Kingdom on the earth, the name will again be changed again to mean both Houses of Israel and Judah being brought back together again.

According to Josephus writings (around the 70’s AD), he said the ten tribes were located at that time, “while the ten tribes are beyond Euphrates till now, and are an immense multitude, and not to be estimated by numbers.”   Antiquities of the Jews, Book 11, Chapter 5, para 2.

Amos 9:8-9 Look! The eyes of the Lord GOD are on the sinful kingdom. I will destroy it from the face of the earth; but I will not totally destroy the house of Jacob," declares the LORD. (9) "Look! I'm giving the order: I will sift the house of Israel throughout all the nations, as one sifts with a sieve, yet not a single kernel will reach the ground!

Amos 9:14-15 I will surely restore my people Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them. They will plant vineyards and drink the wine from them. They will plant gardens and eat the fruit from them. (15) I will plant the people of Israel in their own land, never again to be torn out of their land that I gave them," says the LORD your God.
Remember when we covered

Genesis 35:11 Also God said to him: "I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall proceed from you, and kings shall come from your body

What things did God say when He appeared to Jacob

·      A nation shall proceed from you
·      A company of nations shall proceed from you

A nation and a company of nations shall proceed from you.

Have this ever happen in Israel History, a great nation and a company of nation with kings.   Not that I can find, unless they do not use the name of Israel and is called something else.

The Lord Jesus said of the 12 Apostles

Matthew 19:28 So Jesus said to them, "Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

James 1:1 James, a bondservant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad: Greetings.

If Josephus knew where they were, so would the Apostles.

We find the Northern Kingdom, House of Israel was taken into captivity by the Assyrians around 722 B.C. and never returned to the land and the House of Judah was taken into captivity by Babylonians around 573 B.C. and were allowed to return 70 years later to the land and Jerusalem.

We find in Scripture in the future the House of Israel and the House of Judah will be brought back together again in the future.

Now I understand what Jeremiah said,

Jeremiah 31:31-33 "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the House of Israel and with the House of Judah(32)  not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the LORD.  (33)  But this is the covenant that I will make with the House of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

This is different from the Church, Body of Christ, that we have.

This new Covenant with the House of Israel and the House of Judah is with the descendants of Israel.

'This is what the Lord GOD says:  During the Millennium. We understand now what this means.

Ezekiel 37:16-26  "As for you, son of man, take a stick for yourself and write on it: 'For Judah and for the children of Israel, his companions.' Then take another stick and write on it, 'For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the House of Israel, his companions.'  (17)  Then join them one to another for yourself into one stick, and they will become one in your hand.  (18)  "And when the children of your people speak to you, saying, 'Will you not show us what you mean by these?'

(19)  say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Surely I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel, his companions; and I will join them with it, with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they will be one in My hand." '  (20)  And the sticks on which you write will be in your hand before their eyes.  (21)  "Then say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land;

(22)  and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again.  (23)  They shall not defile themselves anymore with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. Then they shall be My people, and I will be their God.

Be forgiven and receive the Holy Spirit.

(24)  "David My servant shall be king over them, and they shall all have one shepherd; they shall also walk in My judgments and observe My statutes, and do them.  (25)  Then they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob My servant, where your fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell there, they, their children, and their children's children, forever; and My servant David shall be their prince forever.  (26)  Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them, and it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set My sanctuary in their midst forevermore.

These will be the people living at the start of the Millennium and who we will be working with.  The descendants of Israel. Promise to Abraham family.

About the House of Judah and the House of Israel

Hosea 1:11 Then the children of Judah and the children of Israel Shall be gathered together,  And appoint for themselves one head; And they shall come up out of the land, For great will be the day of Jezreel!

1 Kings 12:21 And when Rehoboam came to Jerusalem, he assembled all the House of Judah with the tribe of Benjamin, one hundred and eighty thousand chosen men who were warriors, to fight against the House of Israel, that he might restore the kingdom to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.

Jeremiah 3:18 "In those days the House of Judah shall walk with the House of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given as an inheritance to your fathers.

Jeremiah 5:11 For the House of Israel and the House of Judah Have dealt very treacherously with Me," says the LORD.

Jeremiah 11:10  They have turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers who refused to hear My words, and they have gone after other gods to serve them; the House of Israel and the House of Judah have broken My covenant which I made with their fathers."

 Jeremiah 11:17  "For the LORD of hosts, who planted you, has pronounced doom against you for the evil of the House of Israel and of the House of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke Me to anger in offering incense to Baal."

Jeremiah 13:11 For as the sash clings to the waist of a man, so I have caused the whole House of Israel and the whole House of Judah to cling to Me,' says the LORD, 'that they may become My people, for renown, for praise, and for glory; but they would not hear.'

Jeremiah 31:27 “Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, that I will sow the House of Israel and the House of Judah with the seed of man and the seed of beast.

Jeremiah 33:14 ‘Behold, the days are coming,' says the LORD, 'that I will perform that good thing which I have promised to the House of Israel and to the House of Judah:

Zechariah 8:13  And it shall come to pass That just as you were a curse among the nations, O House of Judah and House of Israel, So I will save you, and you shall be a blessing. Do not fear, Let your hands be strong.'

Hebrews 8:8 Because finding fault with them, He says: "BEHOLD, THE DAYS ARE COMING, SAYS THE LORD, WHEN I WILL MAKE A NEW COVENANT WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND WITH THE HOUSE OF JUDAH

Matthew 10:5-6 These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: "Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans.  (6)  But go rather to the lost sheep of the House of Israel.

Matthew 15:24 But He answered and said, "I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the House of Israel."

There are many more Scriptures that can be used for the House of Judah and House of Israel.

Jesus and the Apostles knew where Israel descendants were located and living.

What was Paul Commission

Acts 9:15 But the Lord told him, "Go, since he is my chosen instrument to carry my name to the gentiles, to their kings, and to the descendants {or children} of Israel.

There is good historical evidence taken from different historians in the past, to show that the Apostle Paul actually went to Great Britain and he preached there.

The early entry of Christianity into Britain by Saint PaulSimon Zelotes (Apostle) and Joseph of Aramathea.

Is this so farfetched that it is hard to believe.  Paul said he was going to Spain.

Romans 15:24 Now that I am on my way to Spain, I hope to see you when I come your way and, after I have enjoyed your company for a while, to be sent on by you.

1 Peter 1:1 From: Peter, an apostle of Jesus, the Messiah. to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,   {Paul did not preach in these locations – except southern Asia}

After reviewing of the Scriptures in the Word, we found that:

·      Joseph two sons received the blessings and inheritance from Jacob

·      Jacob adopted Joseph two son as his own sons

·      The name of Jacob which is Israel was given to the two sons for their name forward

·      Ephraim was the primary tribe in the Northern Kingdom before being taken captive

·      The House of Israel and the House of Judah became and were two different nations

·      The House of Israel and the House of Judah will become one nation again at the start of the Millennium.

·      As you watch world news, think about this history of the House of Judah and the House of Israel is related to today’s news.
